Young Tigers claw Macau

Head coach, Razip Ismail’s youthful squad laboured to a 2-0 win against Macau in the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers at Shah Alam Stadium.

The Young Tigers took an early lead in the 12th minute through tricky winger Syahrul Azwari’s composed penalty kick.

Macau were then understandably content to sit back and defend for the rest of the match but were finally undone by Wan Amirzafran’s header in the 67th minute. The lanky defender rose highest to meet skipper Nazirul Naim’s corner kick and beat Ho Man Fai in goal for Macau.

In another match, Japan sealed their qualification with a solid 2-0 win over Vietnam courtesy of a Shoya Nakajima’s brace.

Malaysia will next face a must-win tie against Japan on Tuesday (31 March) while Vietnam will play Macau.
