EXCITING BATTLE FOR TOP NATIONAL FOOTBALL AWARDS

PETALING JAYA (16 October 2013): With this year’s sensational football season soon coming to a close, the question on every one’s mind is who will be crowned the Most Valuable Player at this year’s 100PLUS-Astro Arena-FAM National Football Awards.

National striker Norsharul Idlan Talaha was the winner for the last three years and will be aiming to make four-in-a-row. He won the three awards as a Kelantan player and will now be hoping to claim the prestigious award as a JDT player.

The performance of several other players this season however could see the award going the way of another. This year’ 100PLUS-Astro Arena-FAM National Football Awards will be held at the Grand Blue Wave Hotel in Shah Alam on 23 November 2013.

"This is the sixth edition of the annual football awards and every year, the competition becomes even more keen. The high quality of performances from the players in the Malaysian League will make it hard for the panel to decide on the respective winners,” said Ms Cariessa Goh, Corporate Affairs Manager, F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd, at a Press Conference today to announce the details of this awards ceremony.

Also present at today’s function were Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, General Secretary of the FA of Malaysia.

Other than the Most Valuable Player award, there will also be a further 12 other awards to be given out including a new award for the Best Assistant Referee.

To make sure that only the best are considered for the annual 100PLUS-Astro Arena-FAM National Football Awards, a selection panel consisting of coaches from the Malaysian Football Coaches Association, members from the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) and officials from FAM will first come up with a shortlist of candidates.

The list will then be distributed to the coaches and team managers of the Super League and Premier League. These officials will submit their votes for the various individual awards and also the ultimate Most Valuable Player award.

“There are a handful of players who have been outstanding this season. And from what I have seen personally, there will be some surprises for sure this year,” Datuk Hamidin commented.
