FAM holds FIFA/AFC Integrity Initiative “Awareness Program” on match-fixing

An awareness program was conducted on 18 May 2015 at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya with the prime objective of raising awareness among members of the football squad bound for the 28th Sea Games 2015 in Singapore.  This program is also consistent with FIFA/AFC ‘integrity initiatives’ to expose the evils of match-fixing, corruption and to clearly define their roles in our efforts to eradicate this menace and to identify match fixing as a threat to the beautiful game of football.

Football officials and players who will represent Malaysia in the 28th Sea Games Singapore attending the awareness program. 

Players as well as officials are vulnerable to approaches by fixers, on this aspect those concerned were reminded of the 3 R Concept – Recognize, Resist and to Report any approaches, a move that will protect their football careers. The squad was also briefed on the appropriate measures to be taken connected with this issue and was reminded to ensure that they are at all times upholding the dignity and image of the nation, football as well as their families.

Match fixing booklets were also issued to everyone present with the hopes that they will clearly understand the circumstances that they will probably be facing and the appropriate actions that are needed to be taken.

Finally, the Football Association of Malaysia as well as the ardent supporters hope for the success of our young national players in the upcoming SEA Games.
