The FIFA Futuro III Grassroots Instructors’ Course was officially opened by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Vice President, Dato’ Sri Subahan Kamal in Petaling Jaya, Monday (23 Sept).
The six day course, attended by 18 participants will end on Saturday.
The course will be supervised by FIFA Senior Manager for Technical affairs, Jean Marie Coz from Switzerland and the two instructors are Lim Kim Chon (Malaysia) and Chan Hiu Ming (Hong Kong).
Also present was Deputy General Secretary of AFC, Windsor John Paul.
In his speech, Dato Sri Subahan, thanked FIFA and AFC for choosing Malaysia to host this Course, which will have an impact in the development of football at the grassroots in this region.
“Grassroots are the foundation of football development and FIFA’s Grassroots program differs from other football development programs in that its organizational framework offers a great deal of flexibility.
“I believe that through this course the Instructors from ASEAN and East Asian region will be more effective in promoting football at grassroots level, among the 6 to 12 year old boys and girls,’ said Dato’ Sri Subahan.
“I do hope that the experiences of the instructors, Mr. Lim Kim Chon and Mr Khan Hiu Ming the participants will be trained to be better grassroots instructors to take this region’s football to the higher level.
“I would like to wish all the best to the participants in this course and hope you gain much knowledge from this course and enjoy your stay here in Malaysia,” added Dato’ Sri Subahan.
