Persatuan Bolasepak Malaysia (FAM) dan Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) menjalin usaha sama bagi membentuk pasukan yang bersifat pembangunan bergelar Skuad Projek FAM-MSN.
Skuad Bawah 20 tahun itu akan bersaing dalam Liga Premier 2021 sebagai antara usaha FAM dan MSN mencipta laluan kerjaya produk Program Pembangunan Bolasepak Negara (PPBN), termasuk graduan Akademi Mokhtar Dahari (AMD), dalam memudahkan mereka melakukan transisi ke pentas senior.
Pemain yang terpilih akan menjalani latihan pusat rasmi di MSN, diberi elaun, tempat penginapan dan makanan, sokongan perubatan, pendedahan pertandingan dalam negara, pendedahan antarabangsa serta peluang melanjutkan pelajaran di universiti terpilih.
Sebagai permulaan, seramai 30 pelatih dalam kalangan lepasan AMD, produk Piala Belia dan Piala Presiden serta Sekolah Sukan Malaysia dan Negeri serta Pusat Latihan Daerah (PLD) di bawah NFDP akan membentuk skuad perintis itu bermula Januari ini.
Bekas pemain kebangsaan, Yusri Che Lah, dilantik melatih pasukan yang menjadi pasukan ke-11 beraksi dalam Liga Premier sebagai antara langkah mendedahkan mereka kepada saingan kompetitif sepanjang musim.
Keputusan ini dibuat selepas beberapa siri perbincangan dan sumbang saran di antara pihak FAM dan MSN sejak beberapa bulan lalu dalam memastikan kelompok terpilih lepasan NFDP dan AMD tidak terlepas aksi kompetitif pada usia 18-20 tahun.
Majlis pengumuman skuad itu diadakan di Arena Futsal FAM di sini hari ini disaksikan oleh Menteri Belia dan Sukan, YB Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican dan Presiden FAM, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin. Sebagai tanda kerjasama ini, Dato’ Sri Reezal melancarkan logo pasukan yang menggabungkan ciri-ciri logo AMD dan NFDP dengan panji-panji negara.
“Player’s Pathway atau laluan kerjaya pemain penting dalam ekosistem pembangunan bola sepak negara. Pemain yang berpotensi sudah tentu dikenal pasti lebih awal oleh pasukan-pasukan dalam saingan liga tempatan, tetapi bagi kelompok yang lambat matang, mereka akan mempunyai peluang kedua memastikan mereka terpilih menyertai skuad projek ini.
“Secara tidak langsung, program ini menjadi platform kesinambungan kepada pembangunan pemain memasuki tahap kompetitif di peringkat remaja kebangsaan,” kata Dato’ Sri Reezal.
Bagi FAM, jalinan kerjasama bersama MSN ini menghidupkan semula persekitaran yang membawa kepada penghasilan generasi pemain yang menjadi teras kepada skuad negara yang memenangi pingat emas Sukan SEA 2009 dan 2011 serta Piala AFF 2010 serta mengisi kelompongan untuk lepasan NFDP dalam struktur sedia ada.
“Selain melepaskan produk terbaik NFDP ke dalam pasaran liga sedia ada, FAM mengambil kira hakikat ada pemain berbakat yang mahu mengimbangi kerjaya dengan tuntutan akademik, maka tawaran biasiswa yang disediakan dianggap sebagai nilai tambah untuk skuad ini,” kata Datuk Haji Hamidin.
Generasi terbaik lepasan NFDP yang berjaya menempatkan diri dalam Liga Super dan Liga Premier boleh diserapkan ke dalam skuad projek ini secara pinjaman, tertakluk kepada prestasi mereka dan persetujuan di antara majikan mereka dan pengurusan skuad projek ini.
Penyertaan skuad projek FAM-MSN ke dalam Liga Premier diluluskan dalam mesyuarat Lembaga Pengurusan Malaysian Football League (MFL), penganjur liga, baru-baru ini.
Hadir sama pada majlis itu Timbalan Presiden FAM, Dato’ Sri Subahan Kamal & Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, Naib Presiden FAM yang juga Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MFL, Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan, Naib Presiden, Dato' S Sivasundaram, Setiausaha Agung FAM, Stuart Ramalingam, Ketua Pengarah MSN, Dato’ Ahmad Shapawi Ismail dan penolong pengarah teknikal FAM, Datuk Ong Kim Swee.
Sekalipun skuad ini bukan pasukan kebangsaan sebenar, kelompok pemain usia ini yang cemerlang akan dijadikan sebagai teras skuad negara bagi menghadapi Sukan SEA Vietnam 2021, pusingan kelayakan AFC Bawah 23 tahun pada 2022, Sukan Asia Hangzhou 2022, Sukan SEA Kemboja 2023 dan kelayakan AFC Bawah 23 tahun pada 2024 serta saingan peringkat AFF.
Sebagai permulaan, Yusri, 44, akan meninjau bakat dalam proses pemilihan bermula minggu ini.
Beliau dijangka menamakan senarai anggota skuad dengan menyerapkan kelompok pemain generasi kedua lulusan AMD sebagai teras.
Yusri akan dibantu oleh panel kejurulatihan yang dianggotai Noor Zaidi Rohmat sebagai penolong jurulatih, Hamsani Ahmad (jurulatih penjaga gol) dan Nor Ikhmar Madarsa (jurulatih suaian fizikal), dengan sokongan Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) sebagai anggota sokongan sains, perubatan dan teknologi sukan.
Memiliki 42 caps antarabangsa yang dikumpul dari 1997-2002, Yusri yang pernah menyarung jersi Perlis, Selangor dan Perak, memulakan kerjaya selaku jurulatih pada 2009 dan berpengalaman membimbing skuad Perlis di peringkat Piala Presiden/Sukma, MyKids dalam NFDP, Felcra FC, Kelantan dan Kuala Lumpur dalam saingan tempatan.
FAM dan KBS melalui MSN turut bersetuju membentuk jawatankuasa pengurusan pasukan yang dipengerusikan oleh pengurus pasukan, Encik Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub, yang juga Naib Presiden FAM. Encik Joehari adalah bekas pengurus pasukan Sabah pada 2003-2005.
FAM dan MSN juga akan mengumumkan penaja dan rakan pendidikan pada masa terdekat.
Sesi pemilihan pemain telah dirancang bermula 11 Disember, mengikut zon yang telah dikenal pasti seperti berikut:-
AMD Gambang: 11-12 Disember di AMD, Pahang
Zon Pantai Timur: 13-14 Disember di Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu
Zon Selatan: 15-16 Disember di Melaka
Zon Tengah: 18-19 Disember di Bukit Jalil @ Putrajaya
Zon Utara: 21-22 Disember di Alor Setar, Kedah
Pemilihan Akhir: 7-9 Januari 2021 di Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Bukit Jalil.

MEDIA RELEASE: FAM AND NSC FORM PROJECT SQUAD TO CREATE A PATHWAY FOR NFDP PRODUCTS

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the National Sports Council (NSC) have teamed up to form a development team named FAM-NSC Project Squad.
The Under-20 squad will compete in the 2021 Premier League as part of FAM and NSC's efforts to create a career pathway for the National Football Development Program (NFDP) products, including Mokhtar Dahari Academy (AMD) graduates, in order to facilitate their transition into the senior platform.
Selected players will be based at the NSC, be given allowances, accommodation and food, medical support, exposure to domestic and international competitions as well as the opportunity to further their studies at selected institutes of higher learning.
Beginning this January, a total of 30 trainees selected amongst among AMD graduates, Youth Cup and President's Cup players and the various sports schools as well as from the District Training Centers (PLD) under NFDP will form the pioneering squad.
Former national player, Yusri Che Lah, has been appointed as head coach.
The team will become the 11th team to play in the Premier League in a bid to expose them to competitive matches.
The decision to form the squad was made after a series of brainstorming discussions between FAM and NSC over the past few months in ensuring products of the NFDP do not miss out on competitive matches at the crucial age between 18 and 20 years.
The official announcement of the squad was held at the FAM Futsal Arena here today witnessed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Dato' Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and FAM President, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin. To symbolise the collaboration, Dato' Sri Reezal also launched the team logo which combines the elements of the AMD and NFDP emblems together with the national colours.
"Player's pathway is important in the national football development ecosystem. Potential players will definitely be identified in advance by the teams in the local league matches, but for late developers, they will have a second shot of playing time through the project squad.
"The project squad is a continuation of the players’ development in the national football structure,” said Dato' Seri Reezal.
FAM sees the collaboration with NSC as the key to recreating the environment which led to the Harimau Muda winning the 2009 and 2011 SEA Games on top of forming the core of the victorious AFF Cup in 2010 as well as filling in the gaps in the existing structure for NFDP products.
"Besides releasing the cream of the crop into the existing system, this project squad will provide a platform for talented players who wish to balance their careers with academic pursuits, hence the value-added scholarship offer,” said Datuk Haji Hamidin.
NFDP graduates who have signed for teams in the Super League and Premier League are allowed to be absorbed into this project squad on loan subject to their performance and agreement between their employers and the team management.
The FAM-NSC project squad’s participation in the Premier League was recently approved by the board of directors of the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
Also present at the ceremony were FAM Deputy Presidents, Dato' Sri Subahan Kamal & Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, FAM Vice President and MFL Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Ab Ghani Hassan, Vice President, Dato' S Sivasundaram, FAM General Secretary, Stuart Ramalingam, NSC Director General, Dato' Ahmad Shapawi Ismail and FAM Assistant Technical Director, Datuk Ong Kim Swee.
Although it is a development squad, players who excel will form the core of the national squad to compete at the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games, the 2022 AFC Under-23 qualifying ro qualifying round, the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, 2023 Cambodia SEA Games and the 2024 AFC Under-23 qualifiers as well as the various AFF competitions.
For a start, Yusri, 44, will conduct the selection process starting this week and is expected to list the second generation of AMD graduates as his core players.
Yusri will be assisted by Noor Zaidi Rohmat as the assistant coach, Hamsani Ahmad (goalkeeper coach) and Nor Ikhmar Madarsa (physical conditioning coach), with the support of the National Sports Institute (NSI) on science, medical and technology.
Accumulating 42 international caps from 1997-2002, Yusri, who played for Perlis, Selangor and Perak in his playing days, began his coaching career in 2009. Yusri earned his coaching badge by guiding Perlis at the President/Sukma Cup level, NFDP MyKids, Felcra FC, Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur.
The project squad will be run by a management team committee chaired by the team manager, Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub, who is also the FAM Vice President. Mohd Joehari has the experience of being the Sabah team manager in 2003-2005.
FAM and NSC will announce the sponsors and educational partners soon.
The selection process is scheduled to start December 11 according to zones as follows: -
AMD Gambang: December 11-12 at AMD, Pahang
East Coast Zone: December 13-14, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu
Southern Zone: December 15-16, Malacca
Central Zone: December 18-19, Bukit Jalil @ Putrajaya
Northern Zone: December 21-22 Alor Setar, Kedah
Final Selection: January 7-9 2021 at NSC, Bukit Jalil.
